For stabilizing the 5V output of a 12V-to-5V/7A step-down converter, a properly selected low-ESR electrolytic or polymer capacitor is usually the better choice. The 1F goldcaps are only useful as additional energy storage and may not improve voltage stability significantly unless their ESR is sufficiently low.
