Ich habe noch mal nach Laser Entferungsmessern gesucht und folgende Interessante Produktreihe von Laseroptronix gefunden, die sogar mit Preisliste aufgeführt ist.
Eines der kleineren Modelle kostet 450$ aber für 275$ ist wohl auch schon was dabei. Nach oben ist die Reihe im Preis wie erwartet wenig begrenzt. Ein "low cost" Ultraschall Messgreät ist auch im Programm, aber die anderen Geräte messen mit Licht.

This small unit is like a laser tape replacing traditional tapes and scales used by many technicians. The system can measure up to 30 meter in darkness where there is not too much light in the area. In sun shine it can measure to about 6 meter and it measures to natural reflectors and it needs no reflex tape or prisms. Dark surfaces redure the range and accuracy a a bit.The repetability is about 1-2 mm and the absolute error is less 5 mm in worsk case. The beam is clearly visible and have a red 635 nm laser source. Laser safety class is class 2 to IEC 825-1 standards equal to not dangerous.
